Tallahassee Equality Action Ministry TEAM is a congregation-based community organization comprised of 29+ faith based groups united to hold systems accountable to their intended purposes. TEAM brings diverse people together (racial, ethnic, social/economic, faith) to redress community concerns that affect poor and low-income people.

Community Issues Being Addressed By TEAM

TEAM sought and received approval from the City Commission, for the City of Tallahassee to establish the Rental Rehabilitation Loan Program; however, there has been little or no marketing of the program and the application process is very cumbersome. TEAM is working on getting marketing for the program and revamping the application.

Faced with high energy bills, increasing numbers of people are faced with having their utilities cut off for non-payment. This is a serious problem. Tallahassee needs a solution that will permanently lower the utility bills of low-income households; increase their ability to pay; and, at the same time, improve the quality of our community’s environment with fewer power plant emissions.

TEAM’s two initiatives adopted by the Leon Co. School Board: Alternative to Out-of-School Suspension, now called Center for Student Intervention (CSI) and the “Including Every Parent”, now called community school,s are being administered at the pilot level and need to be taken district wide.

Because our local clinics are already operating at capacity, there is no place for many uninsured individuals to go, so many seek care from the local ERs.
